The steps to improving our town is not a secret. They are known to us all. Improve things consistently, unite people, make the surroundings nicer, and foster local ownership.
Shift your efforts in these three areas and apply effort every day. Because there is no improvement without effort, anyone who tells you differently is blowing smoke.
Our community cannot improve without the community working to improve it. Once we all embrace this truth
We have all the answers needed to
"MOVE FORWARD TOGETHER"
Make our city a destination for businesses and families.
1) Clean up our streets, properties, and common areas.
2) Upgrade our current parks. Provide additional recreation opportunities.
3) Continue the efforts to bring a “City Center” into reality.
4) Work with builders to provide accessible homes for our residents.
5) Continue the process to secure funding for a Community Center.
6) Push for additional sidewalks and bike lanes, and maintain them.
1) Work diligently to maintain and operate within our budget every day.
2) Manage and provide the best city services for your tax dollars.
3) No frivolous expenditures. Spending your money must make sense.
4) Work to pay off the city's debt, not add to the debt.
1) We must bring more businesses to Horn Lake to create jobs,
investment, and new revenue.
2) Locate and provide additional funds to pave additional roads.
Maintain them, and do not allow them to deteriorate.
3) Continue facilitating funds to provide clean water to our city.
4) Work daily to locate additional funding sources.
1) Continually look for ways to cut city taxes across the board for all citizens.
2) Become proactive, not reactive, in our growth, operations, and actions.
3) More transparency in your city government from all Departments.
4) We must have a workable and sustainable budget within the tax base.
5) Form a “Community Action Committee” for additional vision into
the future.
I was Born in Memphis and raised in Mississippi. In 1977, I joined the U.S. Navy and served over 12 years. I was honorably discharged in October 1989 as a disabled Veteran. After my return, my wife Bettie and I owned and operated two successful freight brokerages and a heavy haul division.
In 2004, I was asked and accepted a position with Governor Barbour as a field representative for the MSGOP. In this position, I supported many statewide politicians with their successful campaigns. I deeply understand Mississippi politics and have excellent working relationships with movers and shakers across this great state.
In 2012, I accepted a position with the Social Security Administration and retired with 23 years of total federal service. I ran for and won a position as Ward Four Alderman in Horn Lake and have served since 2021.
Many know me through my humanitarian efforts with Lions Clubs International. I was elected as the 1st Vice District Governor of District 30-M. My wife and I are Charter members of the Horn Lake Lions Club and Horn Lake Optimist Club. We have served these humanitarian organizations for 20+ years, and I am Secretary and Treasurer of the Horn Lake Optimist Club.
Service to others is essential to me and my Wife Bettie. “We sincerely believe you cannot get far in life until you serve someone in need.”
